I love to plan and attempt to draw a strategy for my life. A lot of those plans have, thus far, been shattered – only for me to realize and experience a more exciting and in many ways rewarding season in life.
Seasons are an order of nature. It gives both structure and variety to the environment we reside in. It’s change enables us to experience new things, in the same place. Whether it’s cold, warm, rainy or dry, seasons help define the condition of a certain place. And in the same measure, our life will go through different seasons –one of abundance or necessary restraint, ease or challenges, happiness or sadness. But instead of a season defining our condition and overall well being, we have the choice of how our life’s current set of experiences will affect us.
Our circumstance, regardless of what it is, can strengthen and make us better. We can allow it to make us a better person. We can glean the lessons from what we’re experiencing today, to be better equipped with the unknown that’s ahead.
Our attitude towards our season in life – whether it’s challenging or exhilarating- is what will make us a better version of who we are. We can only gain the real benefit of our life’s experiences if we fully embrace our season today and recognize that now is our best season. We ought to seize the lessons from it, enjoy the new friendships that come with it, and be grateful for both the challenges and blessings attached to it.
When we choose to love our season, no matter how difficult it may be, we gain a deeper understanding of life and a greater appreciation of the blessings that have come, are here, and yet to be endowed to us.
As my favorite country and city, USA and New York, moves forward from celebrating Thanksgiving, it is worth reminding ourselves than if we are in a season we don’t like or didn’t choose, we can still learn from and be grateful for it. We can still function while at it. We can still thrive while experiencing it. Because it’s up to us to decide to what is the best season of our life and today, we can choose to declare: Our best season is now.
